In the Oude Noorden, you get to know a very different side of Rotterdam: an old working-class neighbourhood experiencing a second youth.
Looking for a hip and lively neighbourhood where there is something going on everywhere? Then the Oude Noorden is for you. Here you will still find the working-class neighbourhood of yesteryear, with its 19th-century houses and numerous squares. The river Rotte, the city's namesake, rises here and emphasises the typical character of the neighbourhood. In recent years, the Oude Noorden has developed, partly due to entrepreneurs who wanted to put the area on the map. Today, this makes it one of Rotterdam's most interesting neighbourhoods. Locals like to go shopping, have breakfast, "have a bakkie" and dine there.
