Between warehouses and skyscrapers, you walk from Kop van Zuid to Katendrecht: a walhalla for foodies and culture.
For an urban and alternative vibe, this is the place to be. On the 'other side' of the Nieuwe Maas is Kop van Zuid, with the imposing De Rotterdam building and the historic Hotel New York. With its old warehouses and large skyscrapers, the neighbourhood lives up to its nickname 'Manhattan on the Maas'. The Rijnhaven bridge connects Kop van Zuid with Katendrecht. What was once the red light district of the docks is now a working-class neighbourhood with a tough, industrial look. That atmosphere is reflected in the Fenix Food Factory, an indoor regional market. The district's centrepiece is Deliplein, home to some of Rotterdam's cosiest cafés and restaurants.
