The city centre with its many museums, galleries and modern architecture is a must-see if you have never been to Rotterdam before.
For the heart of the city, you have to be in the city centre. When thinking of Rotterdam's city centre, many people immediately think of Lijnbaan and Koopgoot. Fortunately, the city centre has more to offer than just shopping. In May 1940, it was largely destroyed in a German air raid. After the bombing, reconstruction quickly followed, resulting in today's modern cityscape. In the city centre, you will find plenty of culture, but you can also eat well in the many cafés and restaurants and have fun going out. When you get off at Rotterdam Central Station, the city lies at your feet.
