Visit Brera in the morning, when you will mostly encounter residents here.
This is the place to be if you are looking for a vibrant neighbourhood where cars seem to be far away. Brera is characterised by well-kept streets and old houses with beautiful balconies. It is one of the few car-free areas in the city. There is a slightly chic, yet nice atmosphere. Browse the art and antique shops, leading designer shops and the quirky but sometimes expensive clothing boutiques. Corso Garibaldi is the shopping street that runs from Brera to the busy Piazza XXV Aprile and the old city gate Porta Garibaldi. The street offers a nice mix between (affordable) boutiques and restaurants.
