Explore less touristy Hamburg, admire stately villas and experience the mix of exclusive and student-like addresses.
Located just outside the city centre, these neighbourhoods are less known to tourists, but certainly no less fun. They are the richer neighbourhoods, where you will be surrounded by chic buildings from the 19th century. The Außenalster is also never far away. Eppendorf and Harvestehude invite you to shop on Lehmweg and Eppendorfer Landstraße. That Rotherbaum used to be Hamburg's Jewish centre can still be seen at the Jewish theatre, synagogue and some cafés. Besides Hamburg's rich, you'll also come across many students here; the university is just around the corner. In hip Winterhude, on the other side of the Alster, it's see and be seen around the Mühlenkamp.
